Barcelona - Spain

This charming, bustling meditteranean Town is definitely one of my favorites in Europe.
The cozy parks all around the city are unique. The Ramblas is a Tourist favorite, but also a trap for claustrophobic people. Drug dealers and crowded conditions make the Ramblas a hassle more than a pleasure.
Quartiers like Barrí Gotic, Barrí Cino (unofficial name) and the Barceloneta and port area are a heaven on earth. The Parc Güell and the Montjuïc hill are other must-visits. Other options for your itinerary might be the Aquarium (port area) with a tunnel through the shark pool and the hill from where you can be given awesome panoramas on the city.
If you‘re visiting Barça on a weekend make sure to attend the water concert at the fountain near MNAC off Placa España.
Just like most European cities BCN is extremely expensive and can be difficult for Backpackers to cope with. Public transport is highly efficient, especially the underground trains. Still, strolling the roads is much more rewarding and adventuresome.
There are hidden supermarkets all around the City even in touristic Barrí Gotic and off Ramblas.
Buses for Ryanair hubs Barcelona-Girona and Reus leave conveniently from the train station east of downtown BCN.
